Southern Peninsula College successfully conducted a School-Wide Earthquake and Fire Drill with a Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) Lecture on Emergency Response, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to creating a safer, more resilient, and emergency-ready school community.
The activity brought together students, faculty members, and staff to enhance their understanding of proper emergency procedures and develop practical skills needed to respond effectively during earthquakes, fires, and other potential disasters.
Strengthening Emergency Preparedness Through Training
The earthquake and fire drill provided participants with an opportunity to practice essential safety procedures, including appropriate responses during an earthquake, organized evacuation, emergency coordination, and fire safety awareness.
Through the accompanying DRRM Lecture on Emergency Response, participants also gained valuable knowledge about disaster preparedness, risk reduction, emergency protocols, and the importance of remaining calm and alert during critical situations.
These activities help ensure that members of the Southern Peninsula College community are not only aware of emergency procedures but are also prepared to apply them when necessary.
Partnership with MDRRMO Labason and BFP Labason
The successful implementation of the activity was made possible through the valuable expertise and dedicated service of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) of Labason and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Labason Fire Station.
Their personnel shared their professional knowledge, practical experience, and emergency response expertise with the school community, helping participants better understand the importance of disaster preparedness and coordinated response.
